Living in New York can be a fun adventure, but only if you choose the right place in which to live. For some, the UES is the best and for others, the UWS is the best. While it may come down to where the apartments are for sale, most people have a preference. If you’re new to NYC, you may wonder what’s so different from the Upper East and West Side and which is right for you.
Prices
The primary difference between the two, of course, is the price. For one thing, the Upper East Side usually has apartments for sale in a lower price range, though they can still be almost one million dollars. However, on the UWS, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything less than one and a half to two million dollars.
Amenities
The amenities may also be better on the UES, though it greatly depends on the building, owner, and developer of the site. However, you’ll find options like concierge services, garages, bicycle storage, valet parking, full-time doormen and more.
You may also run across a live-in resident manager, who can handle complaints and problems more quickly than contacting the owner. You may also find fitness centers, pools, spas, yoga studios, private gardens, playrooms, lounges and much more.
Many apartments for sale will allow you to bring in pets and may even have storage facilities on site.
Layouts
The neighborhood may be a little better on the Upper East Side, and can include dining, shopping, galleries, museums and parks. You may also be able to find excellent schools for your children and have access to world-renowned hospitals.
The buildings may also house various options, sometimes up to four bedrooms, as well as balconies, fireplaces, walk-in closets and more.
